Episode 40: Last Minute Co-Host

This is what life with the DrunkenGamer can do to your mind

This week unfortunately was one of those rare weeks where Gow could not make it. I personally think he went to the fair, but who can blame him toffee apples are quite the attraction.

However the podcast must go on, I really think that the compulsion to get an episode out each week is starting to border on the obsessive. Anyway I was out of luck arranging a co-host this week, Alec was working nights & Craig had previous commitments, So I set to the task of doing a solo podcast.

I even managed to get to the release date round up before realising I had an instant co-host sat less than 20 feet away. After weeks as only being the occasional background noise I managed to get Mrs DrunkenGamer (Jo) to sit close enough to the mic to be heard. She then deliberately tried to be silly but that was exactly I was expecting.

Anyway as always links to almost all the topics covered in tonight’s show are available after the jump.

Also as always we are still taking suggestions for the mid podcast songs. So if you have a suggestion for song to be included in the podcast then put it in the comments of this post or send them too @DrunkenGamer or @D_Gow . They will be put on the short-list and you will be mentioned in the podcast itself when played

Anyway enjoy this episode of the Drinky Talky Thingy.

Also for while now listeners have been asking for a way to buy us a beer and help us get drunk for their amusement, well now we have found a way. We have set up an Amazon wish list full of beer and sugary things that you can send to us (trust us were just as funny hyper as drunk). Anyone that does so can send any message with their beer and we will say it in the show. Amazon.co.uk: Drinky Talky Thing

Episode #29: Unrealistic Expectations

Marks & Spencer's haven't photo-shopped that woman honestly - she always has floating head syndrome

Ok I will readily admit, we finished recording Episode 29 less that 45 minutes ago as I write this intro – but were you to quiz me on exactly which topics we covered along the way I would not be able to completely answer.

I mean at some point we were taking the piss out of Marks and Spencer adverts (or just drooling at the boobies contained within) later I remember mention of Magical Trevor.

Anyway despite our off topic ramblings, which seemed to be numerous during this episode, we did actually manage to fit in a lot of gaming news. From Arkham City to  VVVVV, it all got a mention somewhere along the lines – in fact links to almost all the topics covered are after the jump.

Also as always we are still taking suggestions for the mid podcast songs. So if you have a suggestion for song to be included in the podcast then put it in the comments of this post or send them too @DrunkenGamer or @D_Gow . Anyway enjoy this episode of the Drinky Talky Thing.

Sometimes its not worth thinking about reality

Oh the intro to the podcast posting, why do I not write you right after recording?

Beer + Sleep = Paddy forgetting what was supposed to be mentioned in the intro text. I know there was something we agreed on, something really funny, but its gone.

So instead I will simply leave you with an interesting picture of Kirby and the podcast to listen too.

Now if you don’t mind I finally have my copy of Portal 2 and I want to get back down to playing it.

Enjoy

Drinky Talky Thing 2011 #12

Its been a while since we built a beer tower during a podcast, but Gow just felt the need this week

Another week, another episode.

We are however getting a bunch of new visitors to the site recently so I should probably explain what it is.

I am Paddy ‘DrunkenGamer’ Fellows lead game reviewer at Thirteen1 magazine. My regular co-host is Dan ‘Gow’ Gowen who T1’s graphics guru for nearly 2 years.

Each week we get together and have a few beers while we talk about a bunch of the interesting gaming news, giving our take on events. Occasionally we will also be joined by our other friends for T1 and beyond.

Obviously having a bit of beer in us we do tend to lose track from time to time, but that is always fun.

If there is anything you here in the podcast that you want a little more detail on the links to all the sources we used are included here on the page after the player.

I think that about sums it up for now, there is nothing else to say but enjoy this episode of the Drinky Talky Thing!

This is a crisis. A large crisis. In fact, if you got a moment, it's a twelve-story crisis with a magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24-hour portage, and an enormous sign on the roof, saying 'This Is a Large Crisis'. A large crisis requires a large plan. Get me two pencils and a pair of underpants

Don’t be fooled by the images there is no crisis, I just had to get the images in there to solve one of the random words that Alec got asked to add. It was unfortunately too late for the recording but there was no way ‘Wibble!’ was going to be missed out.

As you may have already guessed, as well as the return of Gow to help round out the podcast, this week also saw a return Alec-Ross Bower. He joins us for the later part of the episode and has some very interesting things to say.

But the good thing about that image is that I also don’t need to do as much padding  🙂 So without further time-wasting, here is this episode

Bulletstorm Drinking Game

Hang on a minute, how the hell have I activated detective mode in Bulletstorm?

Oh boy, Fox News are not going to like this one bit.

Well, You know me I can’t let a good game go buy without at least trying to create a drinking game for it, particularly one that has been labelled ‘The Worst Game in the World‘. That’s just too much temptation, it’s a red rag to a bull.

So I have taken a look at the games multiplayer Anarchy Mode and found it to be extremely well set-up for a very simple drinking game, it’s almost as if the guys at Epic thought of this. I also couldn’t resist using some of the skillshot names for my rules.

As always with my drinking games, when I refer to a ‘Drink’ I personally have a solid gulp of beer so that I can enjoy my gaming for longer, but you all know your own drinking limits so it’s up to you what you choose to drink.

Rules

Gang Bang – Beat a wave score with over half the enemies remaining everyone has a drink at the end of the round

Floater – Player with the lowest number of skillshots at the end of a wave has a drink

Meat Slicer – Player with the highest contribution at the end of a wave can select someone else (other than the Floater) to have a drink

Voodoo Doll – If at any point you have to be revived have a drink (preferably while your down)

Mass Extinction – Beat 5 waves in a row without failing everybody has a drink

That’s It!

Told you it was a simple one, as with all shooter based drinking games the drinking level of this game will vary based on your skill with the game. However I am going to classify this one as a Extremely Heavy because I don’t want anyone coming and telling me I didn’t warn them that they would get drunk – I mean, who will think of the children? Kids as young as 20 could be reading this site……
