‘Splosion Man & Ms ‘Splosion Man Drinking Game

I wonder what the climax would by like if two 'splosion people got it on......and now you too can share in the strange mental image that thought produces

Earlier this month I got to enjoy the beta of the upcoming Ms ‘Splosion Man. This is the sequel to the incredible ‘Splosion Man that was released during the 2009 XBLA ‘Summer of Arcade’. This game is a staple of the team games nights, however we normally don’t start playing it till were already very drunk.

For that reason I never sat down and came up with a drinking game for it, but with a sequel coming I think it’s about time I fixed that.

As this game is playable in both solo & co-op it took me a little while to come up with a set of rules that would work for both, but after giving it some thought that’s exactly what I managed to do.

What is an added bonus is that since I first drafted this Ms ‘Splosion Man has been released and after giving it a trial I can confirm this game works just as well (if not better due to the world map)  for the sequel as well.

Rules

Start a new game, either solo or co-op, and play the game as normal. The core of the game is for the played to keep going for as long as they can without getting killed. Everyone else in the room should take a drink every 30seconds / 1minute.

To help with the timing I have created some sound-files that you can download and use

  • Sonic Ring: 30 Second Drink Timer (Download)
  • Mario Life: 60 Second Drink Timer (Download)

When the players reach the end of the file (each have a special sound for that) or the players die the control is passed to the person on the right. When playing co-op this will mean players get more of a break from drinking, but for that reason there is also the bonus rule.

Bonus Rule

Max ‘Splosion: While playing, upon death or the end of the sound-file – Take 2 Drinks

As always with any of my drinking games, what you drink I leave up to you – you all know what your own limits are. Personally we go with a drink meaning a solid gulp of beer, meaning that we get steadily drunk and can make a night of it.

Overall then I would classify this as one of my Heavy drinking games.

Episode #27: Lets try this again shall we?

This, is exactly what the podcast felt like last night

So, Last week we tried to do this podcast live, and due to my retardism (having put the fan in backwards in my case causing my pc to overheat) things did not go as smoothly as we would have liked.

So for that reason we agreed that we would do it live again, its only fair as we did say we would.

There is only one word to describe the outcome however: FAIL!

We were live for the first 20 minutes of the podcast before we realised that our sound was not just intermittent – in parts it was just completely absent.

If you want to see that failure we have left it online for all to see over at DrinkyTalkyThing on USTREAM: . Fortunately we did also have the Audio recording software on the go so that at least got recorded, but even that is not without its flaws.

Firstly for some reason, Gow mac decided to record the thing in a higher bit rate than normal, which while sounding like a good thing is actually a pain. Then to cap it off it had only recorded a single channel of sound so the podcast had to be output in mono.

That’s not going to stop us releasing it though, so just bear with us and we will be back up to standard next week (we hope)

Links to almost all the topics we covered are after the jump.

Also as always we are still taking suggestions for the mid podcast songs. So if you have a suggestion for song to be included in the podcast then put it in the comments of this post or send them too @DrunkenGamer or @D_Gow . They will be put on the short-list and you will be mentioned in the podcast itself when played

Anyway enjoy this episode of the Drinky Talky Thing.

Gow & Paddy enjoying a fire while drunk

Episode #26 – The Live Drinky Talky Thing Podcast!!

Gow & Paddy enjoying a fire while drunk
Gow & Paddy enjoying a fire while drunk

Why, Oh, Why, did I come to the conclusion that for our 6 month anniversary episode a live podcast would be a good idea?

I mean seriously what the hell was I drinking? Oh that’s right it will have been Guinness as always as this idea came up about episode 16 or so.  Since then I have been silently dreading the oncoming approach of our 6 month mark, while at the same time also relishing the prospect.

I mean seriously I don’t think either myself or Gow thought that we would actually manage an unbroken streak of this long or if we did we seriously doubted we would still have any listeners left, but here we are.

However I think that is enough stalling, despite 2 computer failures and the addition of Pimms much live podcasting was done. We would like to thank everyone that joined us in the chat even if you did derail us a few times.  For the people who could not join us live, all the parts of the cast are available for viewing at  DrinkyTalkyThing on USTREAM: . The normal podcast will be out in the next day or so once I’ve converted the videos.  [Update] Audio version of the podcast is now available.

This is a crisis. A large crisis. In fact, if you got a moment, it's a twelve-story crisis with a magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24-hour portage, and an enormous sign on the roof, saying 'This Is a Large Crisis'. A large crisis requires a large plan. Get me two pencils and a pair of underpants

Don’t be fooled by the images there is no crisis, I just had to get the images in there to solve one of the random words that Alec got asked to add. It was unfortunately too late for the recording but there was no way ‘Wibble!’ was going to be missed out.

As you may have already guessed, as well as the return of Gow to help round out the podcast, this week also saw a return Alec-Ross Bower. He joins us for the later part of the episode and has some very interesting things to say.

But the good thing about that image is that I also don’t need to do as much padding  🙂 So without further time-wasting, here is this episode
