Archive Dive: Introduction

Inspired by the Year of Steam Podcast (http://yearofsteam.podbean.com/) I recently took a look at my Steam Archive and decided that something should be done about the fact that of the 400+ games in the collection, I have actually played less that 70 of them.

This is where the idea of Archive Dive came from.

In this series I will pick out games from my steam backlog that have never been installed, Play them and either Stream or Record them in some way.

Hopefully it will not take me the 139 days that SteamLeft.com seems to think it will. I would imagine not, as I make no promises to actually finish any of these games – merely bear with them till im bored of them.

In order to to put some kind of order to proceedings, I have decided start my Dive though the library in order of their Steam Game ID. This will make the first game Portal with the Steam ID of 400.

Now obviously I have played Portal, but that was on the console as part of the Orange Box. I will announce when I am going to stream in future once I start doing that.

Sound Suggestions: Well, What Comes To Mind

This particular track comes with a rather bouncy backbeat and a hypnotic melody. Seriously. You may find yourself wondering where you were last night. This song isn’t even classified by the artist as Trance style! Rather amazing.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it about 37 times in a row before you muster enough willpower to shut it off. I’m absolutely not speaking from personal experience. Maybe. Probably. Don’t judge me…

Cheers!

Drinky Talky Thingy Podcast #151: The Podcast that Time Forgot

Timely podcasts are not exactly a thing at the moment
Timely podcasts are not exactly a thing at the moment

Well isnt this a novel turn of events, an actual episode of the podcast!

The problem is that this was recorded so long ago that I honestly have no idea what was actually discussed during it, Its hard to even say when it was recorded exactly. We will be back soon but the format may indeed change to fit in a little better with our new much busier work lives.

That does not mean that you shouldn’t get to enjoy this recording.

On another Note I would once again like to thank Trevor for keeping this site alive while we have not been able to do so, without him there would have been nothing at all to see here.

Anyway feel free to enjoy this – the lost episode of the Drinky Talky Thingy Podcast.

Sound Suggestions: Swimmin’ on a Rainbow Road

Lets go! On the nostalgia train to yesteryear when Mario Kart 64 was the king of it all and those weird Nintendo 64 controllers were the shit!

This song is a nicely paced version of the Rainbow Road track which will keep you bouncing a bit around the corners. Always good to have alternative to the classics, eh?

Cheers!

But being that we hadn’t recorded in a while we felt like doing so and took the opportunity to try out a new format.

Let us know in the comments if it makes any difference at all.

During our recording we may have spoken about any of the stories linked below the Amplitude Kickstart, Oclus Lawsuits, Watch Dog failings and even a bit of a Dig at Nintendo.

Anyway all that and much more in this episode of the Drinky Talky Thingy.

Talking Point: What is your Favourite Type of Donut?

It is that time of the week again, when in to get warmed up ready for the podcast we ramble about a chosen topic. Before we got onto this weeks topic we did however have to handle the comments of the Listeners/Viewers of the previous show – What the hell are Nintendo going to do at E3?

All of the comments can be found at the links below.

As always some of your suggestions and comments were great, we do like when people get involved.

Everybody seems as mixed in opinion as the rest of us. One guy pulled me up on the wording of some of my complaints and I am happy he did as it gave me a chance to better explain what I thought.

Moving on to this weeks topic, finally Gow picked the topic which lead to the discussion What is your Favourite Type of Donut?

Strangely this is one of the most honest and in depth discussions we have had in sometime in my opinion! For me there was only one option – Freshly cooked donut balls, generally found at fairs and seaside towns. For Gow he did like a glazed donut.

There were other topics  as well but you will have to watch to see what they were

Let us know in the comments below which is your favourite and suggest a possible question for the next Talking Point, please do as I seem bad at picking them myself. Everything is fair game, from politics to movies, music to games, hell we will even discuss our favourite womble if you so wish it..

Drinky Talky Thingy Podcast #149: Long overdue and Well out of date

Because not even Iwata knows what he is doing anymore
Because not even Iwata knows what he is doing anymore

Ok yes this podcast is well out of date, we are looking forward to the day that life doesn’t keep getting in our way.

That should be soon, for now i’m afraid if you are listening to this you are listening to something that was recorded 3 weeks ago.

To make matters worse it was recorded after a few weeks off due to Paddy being out the country.

That said we debated crowdfunding, talked about the fact that being crap at gaming makes people more violent than the game content, talked about peoples unplayed steam collections and even talked about the 1:1 scale Minecraft map of Denmark.

Anyway all that and much more in this episode of the Drinky Talky Thingy.
